Novel draught resistance sensing elements for measurement of drawbar power of agricultural machinery

Aim of study: To develop an instrumentation system comprising three force sensing elements to measure the draught resistance any tillage and seeding tools during field operation by connecting one element each three-point linkage tractor.

 Material methods: Commercial S-type transducers were packed laterally in between curved plates perpendicular direction travel such a way that magnitude imposed decreased its nature got reversed consequently measurement. Finite analysis was also performed on proposed model elements. The performance evaluated basis non-linearity, hysteresis, non-repeatability. data validated with values simultaneously recorded using instrumented linkages Main results: It offered good sensitivity linearity static calibration. measurement capacity based maximum applied load calibration 10 kN accuracy 93.40%. low mean percentage error (9.03%), absolute variation (17.43%), root square (0.51 kN) revealed system. Validation conducted comparing for offset type disk harrow outputs previous studies assess suitability other soil working conditions, results satisfactory.
 Research highlights: advantages this device drawbar power are fewer changes hitching geometry, lower cost, capability quick hitching.
